For the first time a floorball tournament, with a division between male and female players, was organized. 5 teams and 4 teams participated in the men's and women's division, respectively.
Two teams from each division were college students enrolled in the Floorball Physical Education (P.E.) summer class in UP Diliman.
The first day of the Challenge was historical for Philippine Floorball as the first-ever official women's floorball match was held during that day.
The UP Floorball Club Men's team dominated the Challenge winning all their 4 matches, with a 5-1 victory against their rival University of Makati (UMak) Floorball team. On the other hand, the UMAK women's floorball team reign champions in the women's division of the 2nd Floorball Summer Challenge with a 3-0 record (5-0, 5-1, 5-1).
Another historical event took place on the last day of the Challenge when the official IFF rink and goals were used in the remaining matches of the tournament. The International Floorball Federation (IFF) has leased a rink and goals to Floorball Philippines for 2-years. Floorball Philippines is very grateful to IFF for the support on floorball development in the country.
With the official rink and goals, Floorball Philippines is planning to organize the Philippine Floorball League (Manila leg) in July. The organization is also looking forward to hold the first Philippine Floorball Championships in Bacolod City next year 2013.
