On the 26th of July 2012, Floorball Philippines (FP), represented by Ralph Ramos and Ryan Elizaga, visited the Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA), an exclusive Catholic school for girls located in Greenhills, San Juan City. FP conducted a Floorball demonstration introducing the sport to its Sports club class, facilitated by Ms. Amanda Isada, PE instructor in ICA.
This is the second-time Floorball Philippines demonstrated Floorball to an all-girls school, first was in Assumption College High School, Makati in 2011. The High school students, from different year levels, were very happy and energetic. The students were very curious and interested as the sport was being introduced to them judging by the reaction on their faces while looking at the floorball equipment.
The students were all seemed excited to start the drills and exercises. The demonstration started with proper stick handling and stance, immediately followed by ball dribbling, shooting, and passing. After the drills, the girls were challenged to a mini Floorball tournament where they applied all the skills they learned during the session. It was evident that the students from ICA really enjoyed the Floorball demonstration based on their active participation and energy all throughout the demo especially in the mini-tournament.
Overall, the Floorball demonstration was indeed a success. It was another memorable experience for Floorball Philippines to share the sport to the Filipino youth. ICA is one of the first schools introduced to Floorball in Metro Manila, including Ateneo De Manila High School and Colegio San Agustin, Makati. Floorball Philippines hopes that the students of ICA will share to their friends how much they enjoyed this new and unique sport. Ultimately, FP looks forward to Floorball being included in ICA’s Sports Club program.
